Reactive software company puts new spin on Flappy Bird, shifts focus to mobile gaming
SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(April 1, 2014) - Typesafe, provider of the world's leading Reactive Platform and the company behind Play Framework, Akka, and Scala, today announced Dong Nguyen as VP of Game Innovation. Nguyen brings with him more than 5 years of industry experience building useless and free-to-play mobile games, and has an extensive history of mysteriously disappearing while profiting from frustratingly addictive time suckers.
Nguyen’s responsibilities will include spearheading Reactive Bird, the new rendition of Flappy Bird - the first fully Reactive bird navigation game - and helping Typesafe tackle the $10B online online gaming market. Nguyen will also oversee strategy and innovation around getting Scala and Java developers addicted to Typesafe Activator.
“After the success of Flappy Bird, I feel more confident, and I have freedom to do what I want to do. When Typesafe launched as the Scala company in 2011, their goal was to commercialize their modern application platform for multicore and cloud computing.
